This man is walking through the outer kora or pilgrims’ meditation circuit in the Jokhang Temple in Lhasa. The Jokhang is the most revered religious structure in Tibet. Parts of it were built as early as the 7th century. The kora is lined with 312 prayer wheels. If a person spins every one of them while chanting “om mani padme om” (which means “hail to the jewel in the lotus”) it’s said they will have a long and prosperous life. Naturally, that’s what I did.
