Tibet
I photographed this monk inside Drepung Monastery. Drepung sits high on a mountainside outside of Lhasa, Tibet. It was once the largest monastery in the world with 10,000 monks in residence. Today, about 700 live there. This monk accompanied us on our tour of the monastery. After taking his portrait we climbed a long flight of stairs and I was winded since I had only been at the elevation of over 12,000 feet for about twenty-four hours. He was worried about me and walked at my side with his hand on my shoulder for half an hour to be sure I was alright. |
